causes of the demise of the Byz Empire:

- 602-628? the Byzantine Empire went to war with the Sassanian empire, which was Persian (Arab country and modern day Iran)

- 634ish- War between the Byzantine Empire and arabs occur

- then the battle of Yarmouk in 636?, which once again was between the byzantine empire and the muslim arab army. It took place along the Yarmouk River which is close to the Sea of Galilee/Syria-Israel/Syria-Jordan area.

- now there is the battle of Myriokephalon, which once again is between the Byzantine empire and Arabs but more specifically the Turks. Oh and that took place around 1176.

then there is the Fourth Crusade in 1204, which consisted of western Europeans and their goal was to overthrow the Muslims who had control of Jerusalem. The people of Constantinople agreed to help the Crusaders by allowing them to go through their city and ended up being backstabbed by the people they were willing to help. Needless to say, Constantinople was sacked...destroyed.
